Frequently Asked
Questions
How do I become a member of St.
Gregory's? Father Andrew has been known to answer this question by
saying, "Just show up and be a part of our life!" The more formal path to
membership, however, can be envisioned as a series of steps:
- Step One begins with showing up
for worship and feeling drawn to participate in our common life and
mission.
- Step Two is to meet with one of our
clergy for a conversation about our congregation's mission and parish life.
This informal meeting is envisioned as a time for newcomers and clergy to learn
a little more about each other.
- Step Three is to participate in one
of our newcomer classes, "Life in Christ at St. Gregory's". These classes are
offered quarterly and meet for six weeks at a time after the 10:00 service.
Childcare is available. In these classes, we focus on what it means to know and
follow Jesus Christ as Lord in the Episcopal Church at large and at St.
Gregory's in particular. This class prepares adults to be baptized, confirmed
and/or received into the Episcopal Church. For newcomers who have been members
of another Episcopal Church, we encourage you to participate in these classes
as well. The classes are a wonderful refresher to the Episcopal faith and will
also provide insights into opportunities and how things work at St. Gregory's.
We will also arrange to have your membership transferred to St. Gregory's at
that time. The final step,
- Step Four, is to share in Christ's
mission and ministry at St. Gregory's by actively engaging in and supporting
Christ's mission and ministry at St. Gregory's. We have over 80 ministries (click here to see a list), so there is
truly something for everyone! Our vision is that every member will be
encouraged to share their time, treasure and talent by being personally
involved in at least one of the ministries of our church.
