Blessings in a Backpack

It seems unlikely that children in an affluent city like Boca Raton would go to bed hungry on weekends. But the reality is that 64% of the students at Boca Elementary School are at risk. These are students who are eligible for the free or reduced Hot Lunch Program. A Blessings in a Backpack pilot program was started in January 2008 at Boca Elementary with the goal to keep these at risk children from going hungry on weekends and remove barriers to academic success.

St. Gregory's is partnering with Boca Helping Hands, Boca Raton Community Church, and St. Paul Lutheran Church to continue to grow this ministry of love to the poorest children in Boca Raton. We will provide for children at Hammock Point Elementary School on Palmetto Park Rd. near Boca Rio Rd.

Volunteers meet on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at St. Gregory's to pack bachpacks. Join a team of volunteers and reach out to poor children with Christian love.
