The Daughters of the King:

Prayer, Service, Worship, and Evangelism

About The Daughters of the King Ministry - The Daughters of the King is an Episcopal and Anglican ministry whose members are dedicated to Prayer, Service, Worship, and Evangelism.  The St. Brigid of Kildare Chapter of The Daughters of the King at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church meets on the second Saturday of every month.  The devoted women in our chapter at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church are available for support and prayer.

Mission - In 1885, our founder, Margaret J. Franklin, envisioned the mission of the Order to be the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through prayer, service, and evangelism.  Today, the Daughters of the King are still called to that mission.

Vision - Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our Vision as Daughters is to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to reflect God’s Love throughout the world.

Our Rule of Life - As Daughters, we undertake a Rule of Life, which can be thought of as a covenant between God and ourselves.  It helps us to focus on our walk with Jesus Christ.  Our Rule of Life incorporates a Rule of Prayer and a Rule of Service.

Our Rule of Prayer - Daughters seek to grow and deepen their relationship with God through the Rule of Prayer.  We fulfill this vow by praying daily for: unity in Christ’s Church; the spread of Christ’s Kingdom; God’s Blessings upon members of our chapter and our clergy; and the spiritual growth of our parish.

Our Rule of Service - Through the Rule of Service, a Daughter seeks to do the will of God every day.  It is with application of her baptismal vow in which she strives to be Christ’s faithful servant by growing His Kingdom, participating in worship and study, and assisting clergy in the outreach and work of the church.

Evangelism - Evangelism is the presentation of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit in such ways that other persons may be led to believe in Him as Savior and follow Him as Lord within the fellowship of the Church.  Each Daughter promises to make a faithful effort to live out this definition in her life.

What it Means to Be a Daughter of the King - In solidarity with one another, all Daughters everywhere make the same promises upon their admission to The Order: To obey the two Rules of The Order: the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service; To always offer loyal aid to our clergy and parish to spread Christ's kingdom.
