A REFLECTION ON FAITH
One of the greatest blessings in my life is working with and for our youth and young adults at St. Gregory's. Being part of our young people's faith journey helps to keep my faith alive and strong. It has given me far more than I could have asked for or imagined, and I never want to take it for granted.
Recent Confirmand and Youth Group member Alexandra Masters shared this deeply moving reflection about her faith life. She spoke during our service of celebration (Sunday, May 31) that recognized and honored our Sunday School and Youth Ministry. What a blessing to hear directly from Alexandra that St. Gregory's has made a difference in her life! I am so proud of Alexandra and of all our young people!
In thanksgiving,
Anita Sherman

A REFLECTION ON FAITH
by Alexandra Masters
Good morning, everyone. My name is Alexandra Masters. I am 14 years old and I have been a member of St. Gregory’s since I was born. When Ms. Anita approached me with the opportunity to share what faith means to me, I was extremely happy to accept. I’ve always felt a strong connection with God, and being an active member of the church has always made me feel that God is always with me.
Last year, I had asked to finally start wearing my cross. It was my great-grandmother's and my grandmother had given it to me when I was a baby to get baptized in. That moment when I had finally started wearing it regularly had been the day that I felt connected to my faith more than ever.
This church has always felt like a second home. The warmth of all the members and the feeling of always knowing that everyone accepts you is what truly makes it special.
When it comes to my faith, there has never been a doubt in my mind that God would provide. Even in my nightly prayers, I know I can say anything to him, and he won’t judge. No matter if the prayer is long or short, happy or sad, it always makes me feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders when I’m speaking to God.
Faith is something you have when you believe in something so much that you never question why you do the things you do for it. I have always felt a calling to God, and know never to question the things he does, because everything happens for a reason.
Three weeks ago, I was confirmed and it was one of the most amazing experiences. The love felt while being surrounded by your family and friends as you take a big step in faith is something truly special. Throughout my years in Sunday school and Confirmation Class, I have learned so much about what it truly means to be a child of God.
That is what faith means to me. It is to follow in love and trust as you grow as a person and believe that whatever path God has set you on, that is where you are meant to be.
