CALLED TO CARE AND GIVE
Many years ago, I was given a shirt that has a large cross and reads, “a blood donor saved my life”. Whether that makes you chuckle or contemplate what that means, that line is one of the catchy phrases that OneBlood uses when they share testimonials of patients who received blood when their lives depend on it.
Many folks are unable to donate blood. For those who could and did this past Sunday through our blood drive, thank you. We had 12 donors, which is incredible!
Special thanks to Ian and Adelia MacLaren, who donated blood. After their kids were filled up on sugar from our fun Ice Cream Social, they didn’t head out to manage the energetic kids elsewhere. They chose to stay and give. And their kids got to see mom and dad giving to others, to strangers, in such a tangible way.
As Christ followers, we are called to care and give to those in need. Not just when it’s easy or convenient. While not all of us can donate blood, we are all called to do what we can, when we can. May we allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us how we can give in ways that boast of God’s goodness.
Yours in Christ,
Gena Vallee
