MEET CATHERINE WALLACE
Catherine has lived in Boca since 2001, just down the street from St. Gregory’s. Originally from Fargo, ND, she is an eight-year U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Catherine had a career as an audiologist in the Raleigh-Durham area. She has been married for 25 years to her husband, Jeffrey, a Hospice Physician in Broward County.
In January 2023, Catherine began volunteering with the Meals with Meaning Outreach Program. Having been to Italy twice on cooking vacations, she offered to help Chef Rose Vallee in the St. Gregory’s kitchen. She and Rose have enjoyed many hours cooking for MWM catering events, Senior Socials, and the Sunday hot meals for our guests in need.
Catherine also manages the Meals with Meaning Instagram page, letting our community know that “Goodness Happens Here.” She helps write and secure grants for additional funding, and, as if that weren’t enough, she organizes and maintains the inventory for the MWM pantry. Have you noticed her working diligently there?
Catherine was part of the 2025 spring Newcomers class and was confirmed here at St. Gregory’s by Bishop Eaton in May. Since becoming a member of St. Gregory’s, Catherine has been invited by Rev. Robyn to serve on the Board of Directors for the Center for Spiritual Formation. In 2026, she will also join the Board of Directors for the Episcopal Charities Committee of Southeast Florida.
When not volunteering at St. Gregory’s, Catherine loves to travel. In March next year, she will visit Kurdistan to celebrate the Newroz (Spring Equinox) festival, and in September, she plans to hike the Inca Trail in Peru.
Is she resting on her laurels? No! Catherine saw a need and set out to meet it—the north and south columbaria here at St. Gregory’s. “As an avid hiker throughout Europe, most villages I walk through have some type of columbarium to honor loved ones. What I’ve noticed is that there is always someone sweeping, arranging flowers, tidying up—the caretaker. It’s a sacred, peaceful space. Looking at our spaces, I noticed that ours did not always look sacred and peaceful.”
So, Catherine started a new ministry—caretaker of the columbarium. She has cleaned the spaces and refreshed them with new plants, even adding pumpkins this fall for a touch of color.
Catherine has asked if anyone has indoor or outdoor plants they would like to donate to this new beautification project. If you have some plants, please contact Catherine and she will find them a new home in the columbarium. You can reach her at: Cath.Wallace65@gmail.com or 561-843-0466
Thank you, Catherine, for Making a Difference!
