HOLY SCRIPTURE AND THE INCLUSION OF ALL GOD'S PEOPLE
Our weekly "Making a Difference" stories often celebrate individuals or ministries in our congregation. Today I want to celebrate and rejoice in the gift of Holy Scripture—The Bible—and the way it guides and shapes our lives as children of God and disciples of Jesus. The Bible, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, is God's living word to the Church. Often after a sermon, someone will say to me, "I felt like you were speaking right to me." And that is right. God's word comes alive for us when we open our hearts to God's presence, whether in the privacy of our own prayer time or in the public reading of scripture at worship. Thanks be to God!
Both this Sunday and next Sunday, I am inviting the congregation to take a deep dive into the living water of God's living word as we examine what the Bible teaches us about the inclusion of all God's children in the Kingdom of God. This conversation is sponsored by our LGBTQ+ ministry. We will examine some of the challenging passages of Scripture that have been used and, at times, abused to limit the scope of God's love in Jesus Christ. Please join me for this study and conversation. Because it is Holy Scripture, it will, as it always does, make a difference!
In Christ,
Andrew+
