MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY

Dear Beloved Members of St. Gregory's,

This coming Monday our nation observes a holiday to reflect upon the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. Here in Boca Raton, the interfaith clergy join community members to share breakfast starting at 8:30 am at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Pearl City, the historic black neighborhood, which is in walking distance of St. Gregory's. At 10 am we march together to Mizner Park for celebration that will include speeches, music and a presentation by the Boca Raton Interfaith Clergy and the Boca Raton Interfaith Youth.

During a time of political strife in our nation, I always find myself convicted by Dr. King's famous remark that "the church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. "

I am also reminded that the work of racial healing and reconciliation remains the work of our nation.

I am grateful for Dr. King's life and witness to our nation. I invite you to join Rev. Robyn and me as we march in honor of Dr. King and recommit ourselves to living into Dr. King's dream, which is God's dream, for a world where the children of God live as a beloved community. Join us and make a difference!

In Christ,

Andrew+
