YOUTH LEADING THE WAY!
As a long-time Youth Minister, one of my pet peeves is this phrase: The youth are the future of the church! Certainly true in some respects, but I want to emphasize that they are also -- like all of us -- the church right now! I am particularly blessed in that I get to spend time with them regularly during our Upper Room Time for Teens and during Youth Group activities. They not only learn, but also teach, lead and delight me in so many ways and it is a blessing and privilege to honor their offerings.
One such offering I want to highlight is their participation as lectors during our Sunday worship services. It is not easy to stand behind a microphone and read Scripture or prayers (often with baffling pronunciations!) to a large congregation. Our teen lectors are not only willing to do this, but do this with enthusiasm as a way to share their gifts with our church family.
This Sunday our teens will present the Passion Story for Palm Sunday during our 10am service. You will hear four of our teens as narrators and as Jesus. You will see our other teens presenting a series of tableaux to help you visualize the various scenes. Many, many thanks to our readers and to all our tableaux participants.
In seeing and hearing these young people, I hope you are blessed by the grace with which they make this offering and are encouraged about the future of the church. We hope to see you there!
In Christ's Name,
Anita Sherman
